Sitting Around on a Sunday — The Birthday Edition

No, my birthday isn’t today, but it is in the coming week; and though I really am too old to care about birthdays, I am excited.  I already have received a few cards which I have been forbidden to open until the day, so there is that anticipation.  What I’m really looking forward to this year, though is when I talk to my niece for her birthday (which falls on the same day) I will be telling her that I’m visiting in October and taking her to see Justin Bieber in concert (she’s 6 and she is all about the Biebs) — hopefully we can connect via Skype so I can see her reaction.

I don’t know how Auntie Sue will handle the concert, but I remember that I had a thing for Donny Osmond at that age and probably would have given anything to see him in concert.

I feel like I have been in a reading slump this week.  The books I’m reading, The Betrayal by Helen Dunmore, and Double Cross by Ben Macintyre, are ok but they aren’t holding my interest for me to read any length of time.  I’ve not far to go with The Betrayal, so I’ll see it through to the end, but I might put Double Cross aside for now and search for some lighter subject material for my next read.

Happy birthday, Suzanne! Very nice that you managed to get tickets for you and your niece. I’m sure you’ll survive a few hours of Bieber and you will be Cool Aunt Forever, so that will be a win/win situation!

Thank you Judith! Actually my brother got the tickets through someone he knows so that part wasn’t hard at all — I think I’ll just have fun watching my niece enjoy herself.

I hope you have a very happy birthday, and that your surprise for your niece goes over well, which I am sure it will! I find that the fans of Bieber are very ardent, and I am betting that she is one of those ardent fans! Celebrate and be well, my friend, and have fun telling your niece that her fun night is on the way!

Thank you Zibilee! Yes, she is an ardent fan even though she is only (almost) six. Her mom told me that for back to school her new backpack “had” to be a Justin Bieber one.

Happy Birthday! I could be entertained watching the Bieb sing and dance… not so sure about how I’d handle all his young fans screaming and yelling though. But I’m sure your gift will be a favorite.

Thank you Leslie! I don’t really know any of his songs (just that baby baby baby one that is frankly annoying) but it should be an entertaining show, as long as I can hear it over the screaming girls.

Hope you have a wonderful birthday this week! Your niece is going to be ecstatic! I remember getting tickets to see New Kids on the Block when I was about 6 and nearly died of happiness.
