Armchair BEA Day 2 — Best of 2012 so far

Only five months into 2012 and I have to say that I’ve already read a number of excellent books this year.  I don’t know if it is because I have become more picky in my choices or that the quality of books has been higher , but I’m not complaining.

I read fiction and non-fiction equally, so here are a few of my favorites of each so far this year:

A Land More Kind than Home by Wiley Cash (my review)

Wingshooters by Nina Revoyr  (my review)

A Good American by Alex George (my review)

Madame Proust and the Kosher Kitchen by Kate Taylor (my review)

Quiet:  The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain (review to come)

MWF Seeking BFF:  My Yearlong Search for a New Best Friend by Rachel Bertsche (my review)

Crossing the Borders of Time:  A True Story of War, Exile, and Love Reclaimed by Leslie Maitland (review to come)

What are your favorite books so far in 2012?

Can you believe I haven’t heard of most of these books? Quiet, however, has been on my wishlist for some time now. I really want to read it.

Great post! I just read your review of Madam Proust and the Kosher Kitchen, and it is now officially on my TBR list!

    Happy A.C. BEA!!

Hey Suzanne, I am enjoying your Armchair BEA posts. I will have to check out the books you’ve listed here and what I know are your great reviews. I’d love for you to visit my blog (always) during BEA week and leave some comments, too. Thanks for leading the way here!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog today, I’m now a new follower of yours 🙂
I’ve wanted to read Quiet ever since I first heard about it – I’m sure it would fit my personality perfectly.

  5. I have never heard of those books but I am adding them to my pile.

  6. Thanks for participating in Armchair BEA. Even though I don’t read the same type of book as you do, it is still fun to see what you are reading.

  7. I’m not familiar with these books! You must be one of those bloggers that doesn’t follow the crowd so to speak… which is awesome! I need to add my non-fiction to my reading lists, that’s for sure.

I have MWF seeking BFF on my IPad to read. I’m hoping to love this since I’m desperately seeking new besties. LOL. Maybe it’ll give me some pointers. Man, it was SO much easier in high school and college. 😉

  9. I read Quiet this year too. It was really interesting and I could relate to it being a quiet person myself.

  10. Dang, Wiley Cash was just doing a couple of signings near me and I completely forgot about them. Glad you enjoyed his book though! I still need to check it out.

  11. I’ve heard wonderful things about Quiet. Maybe I’ll read it, even though I’m fairly extroverted.

  12. I’ve read such good reviews for A Land More Kind Than Home. I have it on audio and can’t wait to get to it.

  13. Thanks for the great post – It is wonderful to see which books you’ve enjoyed. A lot of those are new to me, so I will have to add them to my TBR pile. 🙂

    New to your blog!
