Sitting Around on a Sunday — Change Write Now

Change Write Now

Do you ever have the feeling of serendipity, where something you need falls into your lap at exactly the right moment?  That is what happened to me when I heard about Change Write Now via Leeswammes’ blog

I have been in a physical and emotional funk for several months and I’m starting to realize that I need to break out of it, and the only person that can do that is ME.  So I’ve joined a gym to start, and I have been going regularly (5x per week — not bad for a lazy person like me), but for some reason I can’t make myself accountable to myself and thus the need for outside motivation that doesn’t cost any extra (the gym membership fees are worth it, but are not cheap).

So Change Write Now came at the perfect time.  Starting today and for the next nine weeks I will be teamed up with four other changers who will challenge me to make healthy changes in my lifestyle.    We are to keep track of our daily points in the following areas:

  1. Eating Healthy
  2. Exercising for at least 20 minutes
  3. Sleeping at least 6 hours
  4. Consuming 64 oz of Water
  5. Checking in with your teammates
  6. Adopting One Good Habit
  7. Tossing Out One Bad Habit

The good habit I’m going to adopt is to write in a journal each night before bedtime in order to vent out my frustrations of the day (my workday is not pleasant and there is a lot of frustration).  Related to that, the bad habit I’m going to toss is my tendency to grab anything from the vending machine at work even when I’m not hungry just because I’m frustrated.

I’ll also be periodically posting about my progress here, because frankly I can use all of the encouragement I can get.

I know exactly what you mean about the physical and emotional funk. Unfortunately, I was too late to join (By a few hours :(), but I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines.

Thank you Iris — I will need all the encouragement I can get. You can be an honorary member of our team if you like 🙂

That’s so kind fo you 🙂 But I fear I missed the beginning now. I’ll use you as a motivator though, or won’t you update on your blog?

So nice that you’ve also joined this competition. I will cheer you on – what team are you?

My first day is going well, but I think this is going to take a lot of discipline. Good luck!

Thanks Judith, and I will be cheering you on as well. I am on Team E, and it looks like I will be captain, so that will be a motivator for me to set a good example 🙂
My first day went well also, the true test will be at the office tomorrow….
